DIY Corner: The Thread Lab

Finding trendy, high-quality clothes when you wear a 5XL or 6XL is a massive headache. You either have to pay top dollar for a few rare quality brands, or you fall into traps set by online sites selling cheap clothing up to 8XL that turns out to be poorly stitched and badly cut. In short, clothes that look great in photos but turn out to be total garbage. Even with good brands, nothing is perfect: you often end up with sleeves so long they must have been tailored for someone who is 6'5"!

Tired of these absurd industrial cuts, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own shirts. After scouring the web and watching tons of videos, I dove right in. I will share all my textile experiments here in pure MacGyver style: deconstructing old clothes that fit me well to extract perfect patterns, modifying pieces that are too long or too short, and adapting existing patterns to my build. And since a sewing workshop never sleeps, I'll also take the opportunity to design custom projects for the house, starting with a washable hammock for our furry inspectors' wall course.
